RE: KTM vs. _________

a motor is a motor, the KTM has a fast enough motor that you can easily afford a revalve/new shocks with the money youd throw away on the engine builod, let alone the reliability LOL what happened to your first KTM? :S dont you remember you can run those ktm motors for over 40hrs of hard riding without an oil change!! and never have a problem just cause you cant believe it happened, doesnt mean it didn't. This was pure sarcasm. hes laughing at you becuase you made it less than 40 hrs on a new motor and had to rebuild it becuase it blew. he believes it happened , and he knows how funny it is. it didnt blow, it overheated, the piston and cylinder are both still in working condition

RE: KTM vs. _________

a motor is a motor you just said it right there so why does it have to be a ktm you can put suspension on any 450 do a little fine tuning to the engine to suit your needs and your can still go out and kill a KTM for less than a new orange...provided you know how to ride you can have everything in the world doen but if you cant ride it with some skill your still not going to win..its better to be fast on a slow bike than be slow on a fast bike good thing im not slow then. ive rode other race bikes, including harold goodman's old honda, i like the KTM, you can like whatever you want i dont really care, but by canadian pricing, maybe not what you guys pay, but for me, the value of the KTM is untouchable if youre buying new

RE: KTM vs. _________

Ive got WAY less tied up in a race ready YFZ then what they want for a new KTM and it's much better. you have no idea which is better because youve never rode a KTM

RE: KTM vs. _________

hmmm, it NEVER failed me once the season started, not one DNF because of the bike, a total of 6 people rode it when their bikes broke, and it was still fast, no matter who was on it. 2 people that rode it bought 450SXs at the end of the year.

RE: Please tell us your favorite ATV.

450SX or blaster, i still love that 2-stroke zing nawwwwwwwwwwwwwww....really? If two stroke zing is your criteria, why not a 250R, Quadracer 250, Banshee, or Zilla instead of the Blaster? Oh, thats right.....you didn't have one of those. The author of this thread said it didn't have to be a quad you've owned. Try thinking on those lines for once. i i havent rode them so how should i know if they are better, the blaster was a really fun bike i loved it

RE: Recalls on 2008 KTM 450XC and 525XC

they are on th generation of caliper support, i got my new one right away and havent had any problems, the old one broke because my exhaust, which was a prototype, was too low and hit it when i hit jumps, its all been remedied already so there's no reason to bring this up really, its a $20 part

RE: KTM vs. _________

lets look at this in Canadian dolars. Brand new LTR, 8-9 grand depending on who youre dealing with Brand new KTM, 11,600 add-ons to the LTR shocks, anywhere between 2 and 4 grand already, youve just equalled the price of the KTM beadlocks, 2-4 hundred motor work, prices vary but be prepared for over 2 grand fatbars, 200 nerfs, 300+ tether, depends on what kind you get see how the KTM makes sense here? even if you do small stuff to it, youd do it to another bike anyway, and because its got a FAST motor stock, you can use the money you would have put towards engine work into a revalve or new setup.

RE: KTM vs. _________

Maybe you should go back to basics and mod up another Blaster, cuz a guy like Drummer would probably clean your frikken KTM riding clock with his lowly YFZ. Much obliged. Okay blaster, lets put the price tag on your ktm VS. my yfz. 4K for my bike. +$1400 for the front end. +$500 for the swingarm +$400 for the axle. +$200 for bars/accesories. +750 for the motor, piston, crank +$400 in hard parts. +$800 tires/rims. More than likely, I left something out, but let's add up. That come's out to $8450. + a rear shock, and head work, I'll end up around $10,000. That's a full blown motocross bike, 58-60hp, suspension all the way around. Let's the price tag on yours including price of the bike and all parts added up. Drummer, you forgot two things. If I remember correctly, you spent $500 on the swingarm because the old one cracked, correct? The other thing you forgot is the satisfaction most get from customizing their quads to exactly suit their needs. That, IMO, is priceless. When you show a friend what you have done to the beastie, you get to experience the pride factor. For over 11K, the other guy admits his suspension needs to be retuned to his weight, and the first thing he did was throw a Hindle pipe on it. Whether he paid for the pipe or not makes no difference. At some point, he wanted for more power...and he will want again, mark my words. Is the KTM technically race ready? Yes, but theres not one serious racer that won't be pouring money into upgrades, whether it be to the mill, or the suspension. Add those upgrades to the selling price, and its a VERY expensive quad. In the states, you can buy 2 YFZs for the price of one 450SX, give or take a few bucks. That extra cash means a TON of upgrades, and the satisfaction of customizing a quad to exactly what you want. I think the SX is one hell of a machine, but when I see guys like Drummer and Wolvie posting pics of their most recent mods, it shows me yet another source of joy in owning an ATV. Ever see Chip Foose build up or restore a car? To me, the process is more intriguing than the result by far. IMO , NOTHING beats the pride factor you get when modding your own vehicle, atv comp , ANYTHING. And if feel oh-so bitter sweet when you beat the chit talkers in races. drummer, 4k for your bike, im talking brand new vs brand new, not brand new vs old and worn out, cc, i never put a pipe on it because i wanted more power, my dad made a deal with hindle and i ended up with it, i have never had a want or need for more power out of it, and the SX has a stock pipe. i can see how building a bike is fun, and you do make little comfort mods to them. but the whole point is that you can take it to the race track without doing anything to it, ill do stuff to it to make it my own, not really out of necessity, but you pick up sponsors etc and run their product and do R&D for it

RE: KTM vs. _________

ok, not a word of a lie, my sx beat greg gee and his factory can-am on the holeshot at gopher dunes. i lent it to sean just to try it out, too bad he got hung up in the sand because he was flying. buy a used racebike and your losing reliability evedrywhere, everything has been beat on, you dont know how the guy rode it regardless of what he/she says. put someone else on my bike? why? 2nd overall on the season in a very competitive class, 1st at the national, 5th in pro-am at the national, 8th overall in pro-am, in my first year on a 450. i can ride the **** out of her now, but it did take a lot of getting used to and bulking up to handle it, i can trow it around just fine now, i only ad 1 crash in the last half of the season

RE: Why can't people be objective?

ok joel, you claim to have only had that motor for 3 weekends, btu you also said your bike was bone stock until taylor usborne told me it was a crate motor, and that was at the national, you had it before that, dont lie and try to say you didnt have it because i watched you pull bunyan's 450r(john natalie's old racebike) up the hill at parry sound second, i won the national, and you didnt hit the double
